PUERTORICANISM - BACK IN '97 EP.

I'd already been writing & recording myself over industry instrumentals around 90 - 91. '92 - '93, I had a Casio keyboard that had drum patterns, arps and keyboard sounds. Soon I learned to record myself into the tape deck. I would record my overdubs by using t the double cassette tape deck to dub myself over the recording I just made. Multi track recording was possible. I leveled up, again. These cassettes still exist today! In about '94 - '95 I went to a place called Zzounds to purchase a drum machine where I recognized "Wildstyle" of Crucial Conflict. I asked an opinion on the 2 drum machines that were displayed. (I'm sure Wildstyle won't remember. Most of our attention was in a very particular scent of cologne in the air 🌿) 😄 I walked out the proud owner of a BOSS 660. In those days, we would interconnect our devices using cables in a process called "MIDI" (LOL breaking it down for the youth)! Finally, I realized that I would require a sequencer. Somehow, I ended up with a TECHNICS MIDI ORCHESTRATOR! Not only did it have built in sounds, but it allowed you to record you your midi notes and h had 4 tracks to build u upon! You will notice in the cover artwork an image of a little ghetto boy. That was me. Among the equipment in the background you will notice: • A keyboard • Technics midi orchestrator • Boss 660 • Boss DR 202 (used later) These were the very components I used to build this project. A teenager who read no instruction manuals, somehow learning to navigate through shear will to create... MUSIC. My goal is to gradually present you, the listener, with a timeline of material I have written and recorded over the years since a youth. Culminating to the material you see me releasing decades later. Gradually revealing the evolution in skill craft as an emcee/lyricist. Even with as "raw" as I was as an artist, we get a glimpse into material that spans from tales within the Humboldt park streets, to lyrical wordplay in development, to tracks for the ladies and even conscious personal story lines illustrating my life, based on actual events. At this time in my life, I didn't think I would even be around to tell you this story. Thank you to anyone who is listening. At this stage, I don't have any delusions of grandeur with music, I do it because I love it. If you are still tuning in after all these years, I appreciate you.
